Big day for all you internet geeks, Firefox 3.0 is being released at 11:00 a.m. mountain time. So what does this bring us other than another browser we need to test (yes engineers we now have to test in Firefox 2 and 3 just like you should be doing IE 6 and 7)? Here are just a couple of the enhancements:
1. Add on manager: For those of you who had so much trouble before managing your add ons Firefox 3.0 is going to have a “Get Add-ons” tab where you can view Recommended add-ons, search for new add-ons, see add-on descriptions and ratings, and install add-ons with a simple click.
2. Bookmarks: Three new main features being introduced are Bookmark Stars, Bookmark Tags, and Smart Bookmark Folders. Bookmark Stars are an easy way to bookmark a page. Bookmark Tags are a way to add extra information to a bookmark and the Bookmark Folders are saved searches updated when you add new items matching that search to your bookmarks.
3. Performance Improvements: This is suppose to be the fastest version of Firefox yet not to mention the memory usage is suppose to be a lot better as well. The reports I am reading say that Firefox 3.0 runs 2-4x faster than the last Firefox and 9x faster than IE 7. Firefox 3.0 is suppose to be twice as efficient for memory usage and 4.7x better than IE 7.
Other enhancements worth noting are better color support, a ton of CSS improvements, a better download manager, better text rendering, full page zoom, a fancier history display, Malware protection and much much more. I encourage, well I think its required of us, to get Firefox 3.0 and get familiar with it. This is the exciting part of our job, learning new things.

This week I will do three pro games so there will be no breaking even. With college football’s regular season done I will have to meet the challenge of having less games to make you all rich. So with out any more delay here is what my crystal ball has told me. Read the rest of this entry »

Everyone has people in their life that help shape the person they are. Being no different than anyone else I have people who I can point to and say this is why I am loyal or this is where my work ethic came from. Some of these people you don’t even like while they are giving you these lessons. My basketball coach in High School was one of these people. He used to ride me to no end, criticizing me at every move and always telling me I am not doing enough. I hated this man with a passion. I would have quit the team but I wouldn’t leave my teammates hanging and of course he knew this. Not only was he a my coach but I also had him for English and the classroom was no different. Everything was a test with this man and you could never pass. For being the unbelievable jerk to me that he was I say THANK YOU!!! I think the best thing my coach ever did for me and 30 of us high school basketball players, freshmen through seniors, was make us watch Jimmy Valvano’s ESPY speech in 1993. Well the weekend is here and you are all probably wondering how can I make an extra buck while doing nothing. Is it even possible? Yes it is and the answer if football, the greatest game of all. How will football make me money you ask? Well I am going to predict for you four games (2 pro and 2 college) that cannot fail and are sure to make you money. If you think I am lying than just ask some of my co-workers (or Henry) who have taken my advice in the past and are now living the high life. Henry can now send his kids to Harvard because he took my advice and bet the Over of 52 points in last nights Green Bay and Dallas game. Without anymore delay here are the picks.
