So very un-Scrabulous
July 29th, 2008In very disturbing news out of Facebook-ville, Scrabulous has gone the way of New Coke and the CD (well, it’s almost there). Hasbro laid the corporate smack down on the popular Facebook app, resulting in it’s removal from American and Canadian markets as of today. It’s a shame Hasbro could not work something out with the creators of Scrabulous, as early reports of the official Scrabble app are not promising. Maybe there’s still hope? FreeScrabulous.com, anyone?
Facebook is probably not happy either. While I’m not sure how representative I am of Facebook nation — my visit frequency probably falls somewhere in the middle ground of all Facebook users — my main draw was Scrabulous. I would check my matches first, then browse around the rest of the site. Now I’m feeling a bit lost. It would be interesting to find out the effect something like this may or may not have on the rest of site’s traffic.
July 29th, 2008 — a day that will forever live in infamy.
