Too Cool For School! What Makes the Best Workplace? Natalie O'Rourke

A few weeks ago, CSIA honored Indigio at their annual Apex Award as the Best Tech Workplace. This is quite an honor for fellow Indigians; let’s face it we do have a game room! However, people and companies are all in pursuit of the ideal work environment. This sheer fact got me thinking, “What makes a good work environment?” There are a number of factors that can influence a company culture and the individual.

This is a list of the most desired expectations:

• Clear/reasonable expectations 
• Tools to succeed
• Encouragement
• Recognition
• Development Opportunities
• A sense of teamwork 
• Strong company culture
• Consistency
• Usable feedback
• FUN!

Each person has their own idea of what truly makes a great work environment, but there is one fact that holds true, a great workplace = higher return and competitive advantage.  If these characteristics are the recipe for success in an organization, satisfaction and productivity are sure to follow. So, Indigian’s bask in the glory, Suite 600 never looked so good.
