Three Things I Like About Entourage 2008
March 11th, 2008Yesterday, Indigio received its order of Mac Office 2008 for the Mac users in the office. I wasted no time in installing the new version, optimistic that I would soon forget about the FAIL that is Entourage 2004. So far I am impressed, it is significantly faster – particularly when deleting significant quantities of mail. I was able to test this theory after one of my favorite system administrators decided to spam me with over 500 test messages. The interface is much improved and I have already found three things I like about it:
1) My Day – This neat little widget can be set to stay on top of everything and provides a nice at a glance view of upcoming Calendar events and To-Do items as well as a quick entry point for new Task.
2) To-Do Management – The only hope I have to be somewhat responsive to the important mail that hits my Inbox every day, is to flag it for follow up. It is very easy now to set a due date and better organize these To-Do items. Ctrl-1 today, Ctrl-2 tomorrow, etc. Very fast and very quick.
3) Calendar View – The Entourage 2004 calendar view was almost indecipherable and barely readable. The 2008 view is much cleaner. The color categories are editable and assignable for hyper-organization as well.
All in all, the first 24 hours on Office 2008 has been great and I look forward to learning even more tips and tricks over time in pursuit of organizational efficiency. So far the improvements in Entourage have made the $220 upgrade investment very worth while. Now I just need to make the business case for that iPhone…
